The current ESUT College of Medicne was born from the former ESUT College of Health Sciences Abakaliki in 1998/1999 academic session. ESUT College of Health Scienes Abakaliki was in turn born from the then old Anambra State University of Technology College of Health Sciences Nnewi (ASUTECH).
The Department of Anatomy started in Ede-Oballa Nsukka, with Professor A.I Ugochukwu as the pioneer Head of Department. Other Pioneer staff include, Dr J .O. Ezeugworie, Prof G.E Anyanwu, and Dr K.U. Ezemagu. After about 6 years at nsukka, the College as well as the Department oF Anatomy were moved to the current ESUT College of Medicine, Parklane by the then Enugu State Governor Dr Chimaroke Nnamani who developed the College of Medicine and Teaching Hospital.
